All the hype around Indianapolis is all about the “Big Game” right? Well not exactly, alot of people will tell you it’s all about the parties.

Both the Maxim and the Playboy parties, will have no problem bringing in the stars. The Playboy party is planned for Friday, Feb. 3 and the Maxim party, which will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds will be held Saturday, Feb. 4.

Some of other parties include Leather and Laces events on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 which will be hosted by Jenny McCarthy, Carmen Electra, and Kendra Wilkinson among others.

DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl will be on Feb. 4 at Victory Field, and then that night DirecTV/HDNet will host “Super Saturday Night” which is set to feature a performance by Katy Perry. The bash will be hosted by Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban and Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Has everyone noticed that the pain in Mannings neck, is becoming more of a pain in the ass? Everywhere you look, someone has an update, a rumor, or a “informant” that has leaked something. It all started with a Tweet from 1070 The Fan’s radio host JMV when he tweeted, “Been told by multi sources that QB P Manning needs a 2nd neck procedure. Will remain out indefinitely.Called #Colts and waiting on response.” It was a tweet that JMV took alot of shit for, but after a few days seemed to be right on. This news knocked the State Fair right off the front page and now has put Manning’s mug neck on everything I look at.

The Colts finally came forward today, when GM Bill Polian told ESPN Radio 1050 in New York, not the local stations, that quarterback Peyton Manning will not play Sunday. Manning himself even released a statement.

“To say I am disappointed in not being able to play is an understatement. The best part about football is being out there on the field playing with my teammates. It will be tough not to be out there playing for the organization and our fans. I simply am not healthy enough to play, and I am doing everything I can to get my health back. The team will do fine without me, and I know for sure that I will miss them much more than they will miss me.”

Then tonight another added twist, WNDE radio host Jake Query tweeted,

“A source I consider reliable told me he is out for the season. I do believe that the actual diagnosis is still being determined”

“I was also told the 3rd procedure has taken place, either Sun or Monday.”

I’m not sure if the latest tweets was a rating ploy or not but it got people talking and retweeting and even got response from team owner Jim Irsay, “Peyton didn’t have a medical procedure last sunday,we’ll have more info 2 add clarity 2 situation soon.”

The season kickoffs tomorrow and I expect we’ll hear plenty more about Manning’s neck, I’ll even set the over/under at 7 for Thursday game broadcast.

It was first talked about by Mark Montieth, in his One on One segment with Pacers interim Coach Frank Vogel. But it seemed the video of Coach Vogel on The Letterman show doing his “Stupid Human Trick” was going to be hard to find. Well Pacer fans thanks to Jerkylfish, here it is. Frank shows up at 5:04 if you want to skip right to it.

A former Indianapolis Colts cheerleader is suing the team, claiming she was discriminated against when photos of her posing in a painted bikini led to the Colts saying by-by.  Malori Wampler was fired last November after a fan, YES, A COLTS FAN sent in photos of the cheerleader wearing nothing more than body paint in the shape of a bikini. (See Poll below)

The story which was posted in the Indianapolis Star, states that the photos violated the Colts’ code of conduct, but Wampler, who is of Indonesian descent, says she did not violate policy because the photos were taken prior to joining the Colts’ cheer squad and while working for Playboy. According to The Star, Wampler claims the Colts discriminated against her based on her gender and ethnicity, saying other cheerleaders have committed similar acts but were allowed to keep their jobs.

Game 3 at Conseco Fieldhouse felt like a home game, at times  for the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night. The Pacers and Coach Vogel even understood how this could be with the Bulls having the history of traveling in large numbers. Earlier this week Vogel joked about it, by asking Pacer fans to support the team, and that metal detectors would keep Bulls fans out of the building.  The game was a sellout, and Indiana had a clear advantage in crowd support, but it was about 60-40, with plenty of RED. Check out the Bulls post game fan rally via Jeremiah Johnson of FOX59.

It’s not the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last, but the statue of Chicago Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray was defaced on Sunday in a bizarre incident surrounding Wrigleyville. Someone spray painted  ”Sox”  “Dies or Bites” on it.

The statue is no stranger to problems in the past, a dead goat was found hanging from the statue, then the statue which was originally at North Sheffield Avenue and West Addison Street, was moved a block north to North Sheffield and West Waveland avenues to make room for a statue of Hall of Fame Cub Billy Williams. After that it was damaged in November when a worker ran an equipment vehicle into the monument while converting the field for a college football game. The accident left a sizable crack in the granite base. So far there has been no leads on might have done the latest paint job.

Twenty-five years ago today, the Bears beat up on the New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX.  Here’s a look back at one of the greatest games in Chicago sports history.

Were in trouble

Walter Payton, our man all season fumbled at the Bears 19-yard line on just the second play of the game. It was later reported that it was Jim McMahon’s fault and that he had called the wrong play. The turnover led to a Tony Franklin’s 36-yard field goal and a 3-0 Pats lead. After that the Bears went on a tear, a drive that included a 43 yard pass – McMahon to Gault, that would set up Kevin Butler and were tied at 3.

They were Monsters

Richard Dent, MVP of Super Bowl XX, and Wilber Marshall sacked Eason, forcing a fumble, Dan Hampton recovered it on the Patriots 13-yard line. The Bears were held to just a FG. The Pats next drive, the defense came up big again, Dent’s hit on Craig James knocked the ball loose, Singletary recovered it on the 13 yard line, a few plays later Matt Suhey found paydirt and the Bears are up 13-3.

The Punky QB

He was the Punky QB, known as McMahon, when he hit the field he had no plan, which seemed to work.  The Bears turned in a 10 play drive , which ended with McMahon, himself scoring on a 2-yard touchdown run and a 20-3 lead. McMahon would put together another drive this time 11 plays for 72 yards and another Butler field goal. Bears 23 Pats 3 at the half.

When it rains, it pours

Once the Bears got the ball back in the second half, McMahon threw a 60-yard pass to Gault, and that would set up McMahon again, this time from 1 yard out, 30-3 Bears.

Let’s Go D, Let’s Go D

The defense was what got the Bears to Super Bowl XX and what help continue this on pouring of domination. Bears cornerback Reggie Phillips picked off Grogan and returned it 28 yards for the pick 6, extending the lead to 37-3 as Pats fans try to find the exits.

The Offensive Fridge

The Bears would get yet another turnover, and drive down to the 1 yard line, where not Walter Payton, but William “The Refrigerator” Perry would get the carry and the touchdown, Bears up 44-3

This Game is Over

New England finally did find the endzone, but that was it, the Bears defense dominated the rest of the game, forcing another fumble, another interception, and even sacked Grogan in the end zone for the safety making the final score 46-10.

Everytime I get behind some idiot thats either driving too slow, can’t seem to find their turn signal, or just can’t drive I just wonder, I bet that guy behind the wheel is a Cub fan. Well wonder no more. On Wednesday, the state of Illinois will begin selling Cubs license plates. These “Your Following a Loser” tags will run you $69 and will have a royal-blue background and team logo. It’s bad enough that Cub fans are bad drivers but now South Siders will have to stare at that ugly logo too.

The NFL announced on Tuesday, that the Bears can let Jim Cornelison sing the national anthem on Sunday after all. Lee DeWyze, the American Idol winner was scheduled to belt out the song, but after last week performance, why would the Bears want anyone else? Cornelison, usually sings the anthem for all home Blackhawks games and this Sunday will be his forth Bears game he’s performed at. Check out last Sunday’s singing of the anthem below, and as far as DeWyze goes, he won’t be left out in the cold, he’ll perform at halftime.
