HOLY COW, or should we say goat. Cub fans have done it again, trying to reverse the curse.  About 2:40 a.m., police responded to a 911 call indicating a dead goat was hanging from a rope on the statue of Harry Caray outside Wrigley Field, according to Town Hall District police. The goat was hanging on one of Caray’s outstretched arms, police took the goat down and disposed of the remains. It was not known how the goat died and nothing was damaged, but I guess we should be happy it was just a goat and not Steve Bartman hanging from the statue.

The Cubs’ home opener is scheduled for Monday when they will play the Colorado Rockies at 1:20 p.m. at Wrigley, but rain is in the forecast.

On Oct. 6, 1945, the Billy Goat Curse was cast upon the Cubs when tavern owner Billy Sianis bought a box seat for his goat, Murphy, for Game 4 of the World Series at Wrigley Field to help promote his establishment. When he was ordered to remove the goat, he claimed to place a curse on the team that would prevent it from ever hosting another World Series at Wrigley Field. The Cubs led the Series 2 games to 1 until losing to Detroit that day, 4-1, and eventually lost the Series 4-3 — and have never returned.
